The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences has awarded the Xbox One an Emmy.
What Emmy award did the Xbox One win? The Emmy for "Television Enhancement Devices," awarded to Microsoft at the 66th Annual Technology and Engineering Emmy Awards last Thursday. The ceremony was held in conjunction with the Consumer Electronics Show.

The award show, which was hosted by the one-two punch of Alex Trebek and David Pogue, also honored other television technology heavyweights such as Apple, Sony, Roku, and Netflix. Sony president Kazuo Hirai was honored with a lifetime achievement award during the show.
The awards are given by the NATAS for "outstanding achievement in technical or engineering development," and can be given to companies, engineering organizations, or individuals which either improve substantially on existing technology or introduce technology so innovative as to affect the "transmission, recording, or reception of television."
Recently Microsoft partnered with DISH Network to bring Sling TV, a new television streaming service, to the Xbox One. The service will also be available on other devices at a cost of $20 USD for the core package.
